Important! TechConnect Zoom is not intended for long-term recording storage; please review the Zoom Recordings and Transcripts Retention Policy which provides the timeline for automatic recording deletion. We recommend any recording files that need to be preserved are downloaded, then uploaded to your TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) account for storage.
Download Zoom Cloud Recordings to Your Computer
Sign in to your TechConnect Zoom account.
- Click on Recordings & Transcripts in the left navigation menu.
- Click the title of the meeting recording.

Hover over the files to reveal the download and trash icons.
- Download the necessary files to your local computer. If you have multiple video and caption/transcription files, review them to determine which files to download; trash the files not needed.
- MP4: Video file
- CC.VTT: Closed caption file
- VTT: Audio transcription file
Upload Zoom Recordings to Your TechConnect Cloud Account
Sign in to your TechConnect Cloud - 3C Media account.
- Select the Media tab.
- Select Add/Upload Media.
- Drop files or browse files.
- Select the pencil icon to edit the default title prior to uploading.
- Select Upload 1 file.
- When the process completes, the page will refresh and display Upload complete.
- Refresh the Media page for the file to appear.
- The Status column to the right of the Title will display Complete.
After the file is uploaded, click the Actions button to view additional options for Details to edit the title, add captions, or download the file. Included in the Actions menu is options to Add to Playlist or Delete.
Add VTT Caption/Transcription File to Uploaded Video
After the video has processed and the status has changed to Complete:
- Click on the Title of the video.
- In Media Tools click on Captions.
- Scroll down to the Upload Caption File section.
- Click Choose File to locate the .vtt file, then Open.
- When the file name appears, click Upload. Once uploaded, the page refreshes, opening the Captions page and the Caption File.
- If needed, click the Actions button to delete the caption file and load a new one.
Note: If the media was not captioned, you can request DECT Captions from the Captions page.

Best Practices for Preserving Recordings
TechConnect recommends downloading your media and files as we do not retain back-up copies.
Sign-in to your account at www.3cmediasolutions.org
- Click the Media tab.
- Click the Actions button to the right of your video and select Details.
- Click Download link at the bottom of the Media Tools section.
- Click the Download link for .mp4 video and .vtt caption file.
- Follow the procedure per your Mac or PC operating system for moving your download to the desired folder on your computer.
Note: The video and caption files are individual files. The TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) video player marries both files during the playback of the video. If downloading the video and caption files to your local computer, you will need a player that combines both files during playback to view captions embedded into video.
