TechConnect Zoom is an application that is available in Canvas to Districts that are managing employee Zoom accounts. The TechConnect Zoom tool offers more scheduling options, faster recording downloads, and applied Zoom updates. The new tool appears in your Canvas navigation and is a direct connect to your Zoom account. The interface looks just like Zoom because it is Zoom!
Click on the TechConnect Zoom tool in the Canvas navigation (your college many have chosen a different name).
The menu tabs include:
- All My Zoom Meeting/Recordings or Course Meetings/Recordings
- Schedule a New Meeting
- Import a Meeting (icon is the 3 vertical dots)
- Upcoming Meetings
- Previous Meetings
- Cloud Recordings
When there is more than one instructor in the course, all meetings/recordings for all instructors can be viewed; or view only your meetings/recordings. Toggle between your meetings and other instructors from the link to the left of the Schedule a New Meeting.
Import a Meeting or Recording from Zoom to Canvas
Meetings scheduled directly in Zoom can be imported into your course in the TechConnect Zoom tool in Canvas. Recordings in your Zoom account can also be imported - the steps are exactly the same.
1. Sign into your Zoom account on the desktop app or on the website.
2. Navigate to Meetings > Upcoming.
3. Copy the Meeting ID for the scheduled meeting to be imported into Canvas.
4. Return to Canvas TechConnect Zoom.
5. Click the 3 dots icon next to Schedule a New Meeting, select Import meeting.6. Enter the Meeting ID, and click Import
Schedule a New Meeting in Canvas
The default features settings in your Zoom account will apply to all scheduled meetings and classes. The form allows yo to select or deselect the default feature on a per meeting basis. Enter the appropriate information, and then click the Save at the bottom of the page. When scheduled, the connection will be made for the meetings to also appear in your Zoom account.
Add a Scheduled Meeting to Another Course
Meetings can be scheduled in one course, then shared with other courses in which you are a teacher. This method can be used for open office hours courses.
Follow the steps to schedule the meeting in the first course.
- Copy the Meeting ID.
- Navigate to the second course, then follow the steps to Import a Meeting.
When a cloud recording is created in a shared meeting, the recording will populate in the courses where the meeting was shared.
Upcoming Meetings
Displays all scheduled events; launch the meeting by clicking the Start button.
Previous Meetings
Displays previous events; meetings will appear on this page after the scheduled end time. Attendance reports are available by clicking on the Report link.
Personal Meeting Room
This is an instant meeting when launched from the Personal Meeting Room page. Please note that you can also Schedule a New Meeting using the Personal Meeting ID. The ID is a static number used for every meeting when Personal Meeting ID is selected. It is a 24/7/365 room; anyone with the ID could join at anytime, possible interrupting a session in progress. We recommend using a password if you prefer to use your Personal Meeting ID. Attendance reports will be provided as long as there is more than one person in the meeting.
Cloud Recordings
Recordings process after the Host ends the meeting. When processing is complete, the recording will appear on this page. You will be notified if you have no recordings. If you have recordings, they will be listed by date.
