Firefox and Chrome settings may affect access to Canvas Zoom classes and recordings. Browsers are increasing security settings which may prevent the Zoom integration in Canvas from validating user data. Errors may include messages that the session has expired, content failed to load, or gray boxes. Safari errors include cookies are blocked or not supported or Safari can't open the page because the server can't be found.
Please note, TechConnect does not support browser issues, but we are providing these guidelines to help resolve the issues. Remember that browser and operating system versions vary, and settings options may be in locations other than described below.
Firefox
- On your Canvas Log In page, click on the shield icon to the left of the URL.
- Locate the Enhanced Tracking Protection is ON for this site message.
- Toggle the switch OFF for Enhanced Tracking Protection; the message should change to Enhanced Tracking Protection is OFF for this site.
- Reload the page and start a meeting in Canvas to confirm the connection is made.
Chrome
If the error Redirect to Zoom... Cookies are blocked or not supported by your browser appears, an indication that the Chrome third-party cookies are blocked. Click the link in the statement that follows If you cannot launch LTI Pro, please click here which will take you to another instance where you can successfully launch the meeting.
To manage third-party cookie settings in Chrome:
- Click the ellipses in the top right of the Chrome window.
- Scroll down to Settings, then Privacy and Security.
- Select Third-party cookies.
- Click to unblock all third-party cookies.
- Or, keep third-party cookies blocked, but add exceptions.
- Scroll to Sites Allowed to use third-party cookies.
- Click the Add button and enter the url https://ccctechconnect.instructure.com
Safari (Prior to version 17)
- Clear cookies in Safari, close the browser then launch Safari again.
- On the top left Safari menu, choose Preferences then Privacy.
- Uncheck Website tracking and Block all cookies.
- Check Allow privacy-preserving measurement of add effectiveness.
Safari (version 17 and newer)
- Clear cookies in Safari, close the browser then launch Safari again.
- On the top left Safari menu, choose Preferences then Privacy.
- Uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking.
- On the top ribbon, choose Advanced.
- Uncheck Block all cookies.
- Check Allow privacy-preserving measurement of add effectiveness.
