TechConnect Zoom is an application available in Canvas for scheduling class meetings using Zoom.
The tool appears in your Canvas navigation menu and is a direct connection to your Zoom account. As an instructor, you can schedule your recurring course class meetings, host them, and have access to recordings and reports, all from within the Zoom application in Canvas. Recordings and reports process quickly because the tool connects directly to the Zoom server. The application interface in Canvas looks just like Zoom because it is Zoom!
TechConnect also offers opportuites to offer 1:1 private appointments with your students. Please visit the articles which provide more details on the two products: Student Connect and Zoom Appointments.
- Upcoming Meetings: All future meetings for the Course. This includes meetings scheduled by other Teachers and TAs in the Course, if there are any.
- Previous Meetings: All meetings that have occurred for the Course. This also includes meetings scheduled by others as it applies.
- Personal Meeting Room: Access your Personal Meeting ID and the settings for this meeting room. You can edit the settings for your PMI, as well as start an instant meeting using your PMI, from this tab in the application. Important to note, the PMI is a static number available 24/7/365; anyone with the ID could join at anytime, possible interrupting a session in progress. We recommend enabling security settings on your PMI. Attendance reports will be provided as long as there is more than one person in the meeting.
- Cloud Recordings: All recordings for the course will appear under this tab by date. Recordings process after the host ends the meeting. Some districts will see the additional option (if their admin has enabled the feature) to Publish a recording to make it available to their students. If you do not see Publish, your recordings may be automatically available to students (depending on what your Zoom recording settings are).
- All My Zoom Meetings/Recordings: Lists only your meetings and recordings, not any from the other instructors/TAs in your Course.
- Schedule a New Meeting: Click here to open the scheduler within the app.
- Three Vertical Dot Icon: Provides two options. One is to Import a Meeting from the Zoom web portal if you originally scheduled the meeting outside of Canvas and want to bring it into your Course's Zoom application. The second option is to Disassociate a Meeting. You can disassociate a meeting from the Canvas Zoom app, so it is no longer available to students. However, it will remain on the Zoom web portal. Note: You can only import/disassociate a meeting that you are the host for.
