The ConferZoom integration with Canvas allows an instructor to schedule events within the learning management system. Scheduled events will appear on the Event Calendar page, allowing instructors and students to connect to upcoming sessions.
Connecting to a Session
On the Event Calendar page, the Host button appears 15 minutes before the meeting's start time. It also appears under Event happening now, or from the view. Expand the event name and click Host. Events scheduled to start in more than 15 minutes from now will have a Prepare button. Click Prepare to connect to the session early, any content you set up for the session will appear as long as you remain in the session.
Note: The student's Join button to connect will appear 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
Substitute Teacher or TA
Any instructor or TA enrolled in a course can host the ConferZoom class; the scheduled sessions will appear in each instructor or TA's Canvas account. The instructors or TA's in the course require a TechConnect Zoom account.
The button Substitute (as host) appears 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. When Substitute (as host) is selected, the instructor or TA teaching that day will assume the role of the scheduling host and see the instructor's name. The substitute can choose Rename by hovering over the hostname and entering their preferred name.
Prepare (as host) appears prior to the 15-minute start. While in the Prepare state the host can enter the room, any work done in the room is not retained once the session is ended. Instructors or TA's can enter the room prior to the start time to get ready for the session, and remain in the room until the class starts.
