Reserve Appointments for Students
Instructors can reserve available slots on behalf of their students. Select the desired time, click on the plus icon ( + ) next to the time, find the student from the drop-down menu, enter the appointment topic and purpose for the appointment, then click Reserve Appointment.
If the student’s name is not appearing on the Student to reserve for list, the student should click the Appointment Booking button in their student Canvas account. This will force the student’s name to populate to the Student to reserve for list.
Students Reserve Appointments
Students reserve their appointment by going to Appointment Booking in their Canvas Instance. They choose the teacher or TA assigned to the course from the drop-down menu (Book Appointment With). Booked appointment slots appear with the word 'taken' and are unavailable to be booked by the student. Only the teacher will know who has booked the appointment.
Cancelling Student Appointments
Instructors see all booked appointments and available slots. They can drill down for more information about the meeting by selecting the plus icon (+) to get more details. The host button appears when the appointment is available to start. Prior to the host button appearing you have the option to prepare or cancel the appointment.
Prepare allows you to enter your meeting before the start time to practice. Prepare will change to Join 15 minutes before the start of the meeting. You can stay in the meeting and the student can join you; you do not need to leave the practice session. The student can enter the practice session 15 minutes before the meeting time.
When selecting Cancel Appointment, you are given the options to proceed with cancelling the appointment or go back without making any changes.
Deleting an Appointment Block
When you click on Appointment Block, the eraser icon appears with the option to delete the meetings. The appointment block does not allow you to edit the scheduled meetings, just delete the entire block or delete selected appointments from within the appointment block.
You can delete the entire appointment block or uncheck the appointments you wish to keep. You can also go back without making any changes.
