Zoom is now enforcing a minimum version for the Zoom Workplace desktop app and plugins with a new quarterly minimum version schedule. On the date of each new enforcement, users on a client version below the minimum requirement will be signed-out of their client. Users must update to the minimum version or higher before they are able to sign into their Zoom account again and regain full access Zoom features. Please see Zoom Software Quarterly Lifecycle Policy for more information and update schedule.
Update Your Zoom Client Version
Zoom regularly updates the app version when releasing new features and bug fixes.
The desktop app version drives the updates to your account whether you use the app or the website portal for your Zoom meetings. To experience the best meeting performance, including audio and video, we recommend updating your account when a new release is available.

- Click on Check for Updates in the drop-down menu.
Automatic Updates
- Click your profile image or initials in the top right.
- Click on Settings.
- Click on General in the left menu.
- Scroll down to Zoom Updates and enable Automatically keep Zoom Workplace app up to date.
- Choose Slow for fewer updates or Fast to receive the newest features and updates.
Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Zoom Application
When the current version of Zoom is not performing as expected, consider uninstalling the app and downloading a fresh copy of the app with the latest version at Download Center.
This Zoom article provides the steps to uninstall the app from Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS operating systems. The Windows directions include how to run CleanZoom when a complete removal of Zoom configuration files is required; please note this step generally is not needed.
Note: If the desktop app was installed with the MSI installer by you or your IT team, the ability to update the desktop app may be done on the backend, and disabled for the user. AutoUpdate would be disabled by default and the Check for Updates button would also be removed. Inquire with your IT team for questions about updating if as a user updating has been disabled.
