Q: Is there a way to restrict office hours using ‘Appointment Booking’ to just one course?
A: At this time appointments are available to any student in all of your courses; it is on the developers
roadmap to allow the instructor to restrict offerings to one course.
Q: Can we have all students from all classes in the same office hours?
A: When you ‘Schedule an Event’ students from the course where you scheduled will automatically have a ‘Join’ button on their TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) page. You can invite students from the other sections to this office hour by posting a link to your point of communication in the other courses. A: TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) is our branding for the California Community College system using the Zoom platform.
Canvas and Zoom support sites may not be familiar with our branding. We recommend you come to our support team first, then if the issue is outside of our realm, we will help redirect your issues.

Q: Is there a way to prevent students from booking multiple appointments?
A: No. Students have access to any available appointment slot. As always, protocol can be explained in your course syllabus so the students understand how you want them to take advantage of this great opportunity to meet with you one-on-one.
Q: Can I cancel a student’s appointment?
A: No. This is an enhancement request that is on the developer roadmap.

A: This is a two-part answer. First answer: If this is your first time using TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) in Canvas you need to sync your accounts, this article will describe how to take those steps along with establishing your email settings

Second answer: We strongly recommend you update your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account regularly as updates are frequest; the updates are done from your desktop app. Our ‘Host and Member Guide’ is a good introduction to TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom), and includes the steps for keeping your Zoom version current.
Q: How can I tell what type of account I have?
A: Sign in to your account on the website portal at www.conferzoom.org or on your desktop app.
Your Profile will reflect ‘User Type: Pro” which allows for unlimited meeting minutes with up to 300 attendees.
Q: How can I find out if I have a TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account, how to I get an account or upgrade my free account?

Q: Do we need to set up a new account every semester?
A: Your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account is active for as long as you are an employee of the CCC system.
Q: Do students have the option to get an account?
A: Our accounts are provided to faculty and staff; accounts for students who are tutors, TA’s or in student government are provided when the request is submitted by their supervisor. Students can sign up for a free, basic account at www.zoom.us
Q: Are viewable in Canvas? Or is it a link that takes you away from Canvas?
A: When your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) recording settings have cloud enabled, the recordings you create from within Canvas will download automatically to Canvas. The recordings are stored in the cloud, and will open outside of Canvas.
Q: Can you invite a guest speaker from outside of Canvas?

Q: How will I know a student has reserved an appointment? Will I get a notification?
A: When a student reserves an appointment, you ‘Appointment Booking’ page will display the appointment; the text color is a dark green whereas the unreserved time slots will show ‘Appointment Block’ in a lighter color. When your account Email Settings are enabled for notifications, you will receive the appropriate notification based on your selections. Q: Do appointments show on the Canvas calendar?
A: The Canvas calendar is not tied into the TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) section. All TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) events will appear only on the ‘Event Calendar’ and ‘Appointment Booking’ pages on both the instructor and student views.
Q: Are students using our Personal Meeting Rooms for 1:1 appointments?
A: No, each session is a unique link.
Q: Where do I find the scripts, it is hard to scheduled closed captions?
A: Close captions are available for instruction at no cost, where the student is attending the live session; submit your request to support@ccctechconnect.org Audio Transcript is automatic when enabled in your Recording Settings in your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account, and are available in the recorded view.

Q: Is there a way to control how close to the appointment time students can book? I am concerned about students booking 1 or 2 minutes before a session.

Q: If I set up Office Hours for the entire semester, can I see them all in one list?
A: Your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) page has the option to view your schedule on a dat, week, or agenda view for one week at a time. You can update your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) email setting in Canvas to receive an email with your upcoming weekly agenda.
Q: Can I schedule weekly office hours on different days at different times?
A: Yes. When the times are the same, you can schedule a recurring series for all dates. If the times will be different, then scheudule a separate series.
Q: I use the Notability app on my iPad to work out math problems, can I continue to so with TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)?

Q: My interface looks different – San Mateo Community College
A: San Mateo CCD is connected to Zoom using their own account, therefore, the Canvas interface will look different without the same enhancements being shown today.
Q: Can you share media with students such as YouTube, etc?
A: Yes! Screen Share allows you to share an content on your computer or web browser. Content stored in your 3CMedia account can be brought into Canvas using the 3CMedia integration; if you do see the integration, contact your Canvas admin.
Q: What if I teach at more than one college?
A: A TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account is required for each Canvas instance that you use, request a TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account for each college.
Q: How do you cancel a meeting in TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) Canvas?

A: We have 113 or the 115 community colleges integrated with Canvas. If you do not see TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) listed in your options, contact your Canvas admin.
Q: Is the ‘Waiting Room’ similar to ‘Appointment Booking’?
A: It is similar in that you control when a student enters your session. If you ‘Schedule an Event’, and the Waiting Room option is enabled in your account, students will be held in the waiting area until you admit them. If you offer slots in ‘Appointment Booking’ the waiting room function does not appluy.
Q: Are students able to book office hours for educational counseling?
A: If the counselor and student are in the same Canvas ‘course’ the options are available.
Q: How do I share a PowerPoint with students?
A: The Screen Share feature allows you share any content on your computer.
Q: Is there a way to restrict students from booking an appointment at the ‘last minute’, creating a lack of preparation time for the instructor?
A: Appointment slots are available until you delete them, or the time has past.
Q: Does the TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) page look the same in all courses?
A: Yes, the interface remains the same. The ‘Student View’ is essentially the same as the ‘Teacher View’ with the exception of being able to schedule events or see other restricted information.
