TechConnect Cloud (3C Media Solutions) Solutions Q & A
Q Where is the login page for TechConnect Cloud (3C Media Solutions)?
A www.3cmediasolutions.org
Q Does this include PowerPoints?
A Yes, you can upload files into your TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) account as well as videos.
Q Is there a max storage amount?
A No max storage amount, however, this a a max upload of 1G for each video.
Q Can we make videos on our cell phones and save them to our computer, then bring them into
TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) to use on our Canvas accounts?
A Yes.
Q Can you elaborate on captioning going away?
A 3CMedia provides captioning via a DECT grant for your instructional videos that you upload to
3CMedia with some exceptions. (Noted on form when you request captioning 3CMediaSolutions
gets some of the DECT grant money and we sometimes run out of funding, but more is
available directly through DECT
at https://www.canyons.edu/Offices/DistanceLearning/Captioning/Pages/default.aspx.
You can also check with your Distance Ed department or Campus Library. Sometimes they will have funding for captioning depending on what the content .
Q I don't understand the difference between recording Zoom or recording Zoom and saving to TechConnect Cloud (3C Media). What's the nuance you are pointing to?
A TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) is where you create recordings of your meetings or classes; the files
are stored in your account (cloud recordings), and downloaded to Canvas when the session was
intiated from your course. TechConnect Cloud (3C Media Solutions) is a storage repository where
you can choose to upload copies of your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) recordings as well as other
content for your own use, or to share with students.
Q Will my 3C account be avilable for an indefinite time, and will it appear in all my future Canvas
course?
A TechConnect Cloud (3C Media Solutions) is a grant-funded project for the past 20 years; as long as
funding remains, your account will remain active. If your college has the 3C Media integration, you
can pull content from your 3C account into your Canvas course.
Q Will 3C show in the editor if 3C Media isn’t enabled in the navigation?
A No.
Q I use the link feature for YouTube videos, so what is better about this or not?
A We are not a competitor of YouTube, it is completely up to you if you would like to use this
feature, it's just something we offer for convenience. We get feedback that instructors like to
put YouTube items into TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) to reduce distractions of YouTube's "suggested videos”.
Q Can you embed a video in a module?
A Yes.
Q Is that option also available for students to use in the case that they are asked to upload a
video?
A No.
Q In recording videos of me speaking directly into Canvas, it has been quite hit or miss --
sometimes it doesn't save. Canvas help has said that my internet connection may be the
issue. Would recording my "weekly message" in TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) and save to
TechConnect Cloud (3C Media Solutions) and then embed in Canvas resolve this problem?
A If you do your weekly message on campus with the better bandwidth, record it on your Zoom
desktop and save the recording into 3CMedia and then embed it into Canvas, it should work. If
you are still having issues please submit a support ticket to us at support@ccctechconnect.org
with details and screen shots.
Q So if we bring the video into 3CM then it will be there irregardless of whether the video is
removed from YT which is happening a lot lately?
A No, if it is removed from YouTube it will be removed from your TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) account
as well.
Q I have a URL for a 3C video previously created for me, how can I add to my TechConnect Cloud (3C
Media Solutions) library?
A If you have a URL you can add that video to a Playlist. If you did not create the video, but
someone gave you the URL, that video would reside in the other person’s media library not
yours. You can generally add media that you created to your TechConnect Cloud (3C Media) library.
Q When will the new system take effect? after the Spring 2019 semester?
A If you are referring to the integrations discussed today, and do not find them in your course
navigation settings, contact your Canvas admin. The integrations are available as long as the
college has requested the configuration, and completed the installation in Canvas.
