When you join a TechConnect Zoom meeting hosted by another user, you are considered a participant. You will have access to several controls and functionality; some features may only be available to the host, or the host has restricted use of the features.
Participant Controls
Located at the top of the meeting window on the top right and top left of the screen.
Green shield: Top left of the screen, click to view meeting details including the meeting ID, host name, and invite link. Click the gear icon inside the shield window to view your real-time network connection information.
View icon: Located on the top right of the screen to select the video view or also stop all participants’ incoming video.
Participant Tools
Located at the bottom of the screen on the meeting toolbar, icon representations left to right:
Mute: Mute/unmute yourself. Click the up caret to change microphone and speaker settings, or test your audio settings.
Start Video: Turn your video camera on or off. Click the up caret to change camera settings, select a
virtual background or filter.
Participants: View the list of participants. The up caret all allows you to invite others to the meeting.
If the host permits, participants can change their information. In the Participant window hover over your name, click on the 'More' button to change your screen name, profile picture, and share/unshare your pronouns.
Chat: If the host permits, chat with everyone, privately with a participant, or with the host.
Share Screen: If the host permits, share screens from your device.
Record: Start or stop a local recording when the host gives permission.
Live Transcript: Click to view an automated live transcript of the conversation. If a live captioner is in
the meeting, captions will appear.
Reactions: Use emojis to raise your hand or share reactions without disrupting the meeting. Reactions will appear on the video window and next to the name on the participants’ list.
Apps: Displays approved apps that are available for use in the meeting.
Leave: Leave the meeting before the host has ended the meeting for all.
