Many great questions were presented during our 03-07-19 Webinar titled 'Robust New Features of TechConnect's TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) Product Now in Canvas'. We combined questions, deleted duplicates, and add information to some of the responses.

Q: Is live closed caption provided by CCC Confer?
A: Our provided live captioning is reserved for live online classes with student participation, and a requirement for live caption support. If your request is for a meeting that is not for student instruction, you can secure a caption service of your choosing, or enter captions yourself. If you are requesting closed captions for the purpose of future viewing, the Audio Transcript feature provides a text to transcript file of the live conversation in your Cloud recording. Log into your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)account to verify you have Cloud recording and Audio Transcript enabled.
Q: Is this meeting going to address how to use TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) in Canvas?
A: We will address that as an overview but not a deep dive into training.
Q: I have been using my Personal Meeting room as a 'Virtual Office' in my online classes. Do you have any suggestions for an alternative to this? Thanks.
A: You could use the Appointment Booking to set up office hours in one course and students from all courses in that Canvas instance can view and reserve any available time slot. Appointment booking is strictly one on one. Appointment slots can be viewed by all students in all courses in your Canvas instance whereas Events can be seen by only the students in that specific course. If you want multiple students from multiple courses to be able to log in you would use Event Scheduling. Q: Whom should we advise faculty to contact if they still have a Basic account? I’m a DE Facilitator
and this often happens even when faculty sign up through TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom).
A: Please have them send us an email at support@ccctechconnect.org with a request to
change them from basic to Pro and we will get them all set up :)
Q: (Regarding Personal Meeting ID)Great, thanks. I have also told students they can meet there to practice or study their Spanish. A few do use it each semester. I also use it for two
conversation oral assessments each semester. I haven't had problems so far with students
logging in to my personal meeting room after the semester ends.
A: That's great and you bring up a good point, if you do ever have a problem with someone
logging into your personal meeting room inappropriately, you can always change your "PMI" by
logging into your account at www.conferzoom.org and editing the Personal Meeting ID.
Q: I am a Pro user and I am clicking on my profile photo, but I do not see an option to check for
updates.
A: You will see the "check for updates" only if you are clicking the profile photo your desktop app.
If you are in a Zoom/TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) meeting when checking for updates you will be given the
option to update after you have left your meeting. If you are logging into the web portal at
www.conferzoom.org the system automatically updates for you.
Q: This is screen view. Can we also have person view?
A: For a webinar you do not have that functionality. But in your own Zoom desktop application,
you do have the options to change your view to what is most desirable to you. To view

Q: I was wondering if I can use the laptop camera to show work on a whiteboard.
A: Yes you can, your webcam will show whatever it is pointed at when you have the video camera
turned on. There is also a whiteboard option in your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) room when
Screen Sharing.
Q: How do we schedule weekly online office hours on TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) in Canvas?
A: See question 3 above.
Q: Can the appointments use camera for student to see me and for me to see them?
A: Yes definitely, even if you choose to start the meeting without video you can switch to use
video. Appointments have the same room view as Events in Canvas.
Q: Why does my Canvas menu show the app as "Zoom" not "TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)"?
A: Some older instances show "ConferNow" instead of "TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)" which is something we are working with Canvas admins to update. ConferNow and ConferZoom are one in the same in Canvas so no worries.
Q: Can you tell us again how to add the appointment booking to all our courses? I understand that
I will create the appointment booking schedule on one course, but then how do I add it to the other courses?
A: Events scheduling is per course. Appointment Booking slots appear to all students across all
courses where you are the teacher in the same Canvas instance. At this time you cannot
restrict which courses can reserve an appointment. A request has been submitted to our
developer asking for this option. See question 3 as well.
Q: Can recording names be edited?
A: The recording titles cannot be edited in Zoom, however, you could download the mp4 file, title
it whatever you want when saving and then provide that file to those you want to have it. The
original recording will still be in Zoom unless you delete it.
Q: Yes, I didn’t understand how to have online office hours for multiple classes. Some sort of link
to give to other classes? Can you explain this to me after the webinar?
A: See question 3 for steps to take to schedule Event "Office Hours" for more than 1 course in
Canvas.
Q: On the transcript. If I edit that file will it also edit on the MP4 file?
A: It will edit the transcript file and in turn edit the audio transcript playback when viewing
the recording. It does not edit the mp4 per se but does edit the audio transcript that a viewer
can enable when viewing the recording. We don't have a tool in Zoom for editing mp4's at this
time, you can use Camtasia or other 3rd party software.
Q: How do I set up the Waiting Room?

Q: When you update my account to Pro, will I need to reinstall my desktop app? Will my Canvas
app automatically change?
A: No, you will not need to change your desktop app, but you will want to close it and any other
Zoom instance before signing in at www.conferzoom.org when moving over to a pro
account. After signing in at www.conferzoom.org open your desktop app and make sure you
"check for updates" to be sure you have the latest updates. Click on your image or initials (top
right) and you should then see Pro to the right of your name. As well as the desktop app,
Canvas is automatically updated.
