Q: What is 3c Media Solutions? How does integrate into what we are doing with TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)? Do we need it?
A: 3C Media is a storage solution that allows you to store and share your files. Please visit

Q: When a student books one of the appointment slots, is there an email notification for the
A: Email Settings must be selected on the Account Settings page of TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)
in Canvas to receive notifications and reminders. The settings apply only to the individual’s account.
Both student and instructors can personalize their email settings.
Q: I tried to book an appointment to practice - it doesn't show after I save.
A: Please try refreshing your browser. If refreshing does not resolve the problem please call us
at 760-744-1150 ext. 1537 or 1554 for assistance.
Q: One difference between ‘Event’ and ‘Appointment Booking’ is that I cannot schedule an ‘Event’
(such as regular office hours) at the same time for multiple courses whereas an Appointment
Booking can be available for multiple courses at once?
A: Events scheduling is per course. Appointment Booking slots appear to students across all
courses where you are the teacher in the same Canvas instance. At this time you cannot
restrict which courses can reserve an appointment. A request has been submitted to our
developer asking for the option.
Q: Can you please explain the term use? I do have a Canvas account I am not an instructor but I
would love to utilize the appointment feature so how can I do that?
A: Anyone with a Canvas account can use Appointment Booking. However, you need a 'Course'
with people enrolled to reserve offered appointments. You may need to contact your Canvas
admin for advise on bringing people into your instance without a 'Course'.
Q: So you could use the Appointment Booking to set up office hours across multiple courses?
A: Yes, offer the Appointment slots in one course. Students in all courses where you are an
instructor will be able to reserve an appointment.
Q: When we have recorded a session, will we be notified when students who couldn’t attend the
live session view the recording?
A: Attendance reports are available for live sessions, but not for recorded views.
Q: How do we change a change basic acct to pro acct?
A: Send an email to email@example.com with the account email you want to have
upgraded to Pro.
Q: How far ahead should we request live closed captions?
A: As far in advance as possible; with a minimum of five business days’ notice. If your request is
less than five business days, please submit and will work with our provider to try and
accommodate your needs.
Q: If we had a recording that was captioned, would we get a caption file separately from the
A: Yes, at the end of the session the files will download to your designated downloads folder on
your desktop. These files as well as the Chat and recording video can be downloaded from the
Recordings page in your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account.
Q: Why does my Canvas setting say ConferNow still?
A: ConferNow was the early name used for the Canvas integration, it has since been rebranded
to TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom). It is the same service!
Q: You mentioned that it is web based. Why am I always prompted to download when I use
A: The prompt is for a file that runs on the web; while all browsers are supported, Zoom suggests
using Chrome. If you download the desktop app, and are signed in, you will minimize browser
prompts. Download from http://www.zoom.us/download.
Q: How long is the funding for this iteration of ZOOM available for before we have to look for
other funding sources to offset the cost?
A: Our grant was established in 2000, with our latest funding approved for the next 4 years. We
have evolved with the technology, and growing at a rapid pace so we plan to be here for a long
time to come!
Q: What do I need to do if TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) does not show up in my Canvas classes?
A: In Canvas go to Settings (on the left) then to the Navigation tab on the top menu. If
TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) is in the hidden items you can drag it up into the course items. If it is not there,
contact your Canvas admin.
Q: If a student schedules a meeting, is the recording available to them as well? Will other
students be able to see that meeting recording?
A: This is a two-part answer: (1) Students cannot schedule meetings. If you have a TA, contact
us for information about how to allow a TA to schedule and host on your behalf. (2) Recordings
created using TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) in Canvas will appear to all students
enrolled in the course on the Event Recordings tab.
Q: Does the recording link include the Q&A? I am not clear.
A: Q&A is a feature in the Webinar platform, allowing participants to ask questions, but not
interact with each other. The Q&A does not appear in the recorded view, but a report can be
downloaded if you host a Webinar.
Q: In a recurring meeting is there a way to add the meeting date to the title automatically?
A: A recurring meeting applies the same information to all meeting dates scheduled. Each Event
must be edited as individual meetings. In Canvas scheduling there is a description field which
can be used to add information about that specific event - the description will appear on the
'Upcoming Events' list.
Q: I just tried editing a recurring meeting, but the TOPIC is greyed-out.
A: When an item is greyed-out, it is an indication the session may not have saved or completed
processing. Please try again or call for assistance 760-744-1150 ext 1537 or 1554.
Q: Are the courses listed on your schedule available for the future?
A: The course displays all scheduled TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) sessions. Choose to view by
Day, Week, or Agenda.
Q: Can I schedule a meeting for another user? As I am an office assistant and may need to
schedule meetings for academic counselors at my school.
A: Yes, the counselor can assign you scheduling privileges in their account, allowing you to
schedule or edit the meeting on their behalf. Scheduling privileges also allows a user to
assume the Host role if needed. This article describes the process:
Q: So basically, Share Screen is screen casting?
A: Screen Share allows sharing of any desktop application or website from the host computer. It
can include video stored on the computer or from a website such as YouTube.

Q: Appointment Booking - It can be initiated by students?
A: Only the instructor can offer the Appointment slots. Students can reserve their appointment.
Students in another course where you are an instructor also have access to the offered
appointments. Appointments are one-on-one, and the reserved slots do not display the
students name for privacy.
Q: This is a great feature; I am going to advertise it to my students. Are these sessions
A: Appointments can be recorded if the instructor starts a recording. Recordings from
Appointments will not appear in Canvas as they are private. The instructor can access the
Appointment recording from their TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account on the website portal.
Q: Can students request a different time for a meeting through TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) on
A: Students cannot initiate a change on the schedule but can contact the instructor with their
request using the prescribed communication tool.
Q: Is there an way to do instant surveys in TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom)?
A: Yes, using the Poll feature. Add up to 25 polls with 10 questions each to a Meeting. Create
Polls in advance when scheduling, or on the fly in the live Meeting. Instructions are available

Q: Can this tool be a replacement from making videos on monosnap?
A: I'm not familiar with monosnap but we certainly do see plenty of instructors using
TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) to create class videos.
Q: I am sorry if I missed this information, but when students ‘drop in’ to an open meeting (for
use for ‘office hour’) it is visible to other students correct? Is there a way to switch it to a
private meeting (not visible to other students)?
A: Anyone who joins a session will be visible in the Participant list. The 'Waiting Room' option
allows you to choose who to bring into the room; you can also remove a Participant from the
room, or return them to the Waiting Room. Use Appointment Booking for one-on-one private
meetings with students.
Q: Can students in a Waiting Room interact with each other?
A: Students or attendees will not be able to interact with each other in a Waiting Room.
We recommend customizing your Waiting Room announcement so that students
are comfortable knowing they are at the right location.
Q: Did I miss the demo on how to set up Waiting Rooms?
A: The Waiting Room option is enabled in your TechConnect Zoom (ConferZoom) account on the
website portal. Sign into your account, go to Meeting Settings on the left, then the Meeting tab.
Scroll down to ‘In Meeting (Advanced)’, then to ‘Waiting Room’ and click the toggle button so it turns
blue indicating the feature is enabled.
