Q&A
Q: Can videos in Panopto be used with PlayPosit? (Is Panopto already integrated into Canvas)?
A: Yes, you can use Panopto video with PlayPosit.
Q: Is there a way to use PlayPosit to add captions to third-party videos that are not captioned for
educational purposes?
A: Instructors can upload caption files to PlayPosit in SRT or VTT format.
Q: I have been using ScreenPal to create and edit videos. Would I have to upload to YouTube or Vimeo
to use PlayPosit?
A: Yes, the videos need to be uploaded to a video host before they can be imported into PlayPosit.
Q: Why did you choose two languages for the video?
A: We are trying to demonstrate that instructors can import multiple captions from the video host.
Q: Are instructor questions in the sidebar both written and auditory?
A: Instructors can add audio to the questions with the recording feature on the Rich Text Editor. Each recording can be up to 90 seconds.
Q: Can you assign point values to each question/interaction?
A: Yes, select three dots to the right of the question and select points.
Q: Is there a "limit" to interactions or videos per bulb?
A: No limit but there are best practices. There is a notification that comes up if you put up a lot of interactions.
Q: Could you explain the limit of 10 videos? Is that by assignment, by Canvas course, etc.?
A: There is a 10-video limit within the video segment section. Within one bulb, you can have multiple video segment sections.
Q: How do we import 2 languages into a video?
A: You can pull multiple caption files if they're already available. Click the video to which you want to modify, and go back to the caption section. You can pull in as many captions from this location as are already associated with this video.
And that applies to Vimeo and Canvas Studio as well. So, that way we can pull in as many caption files as we need.
Canvas Studio doesn't have this nice workflow, unfortunately, where you can just view the available captions and select them.
Canvas Studio does require that you download them from Canvas Studio. And then if you like, pull/drag in that little file right into this space.
just one step you need to be mindful of, download the caption files that come with your Canvas studio videos. And drag and drop.
Q: If you decide, at the end of creating responses, to add only 4 responses instead of 5, using the template, would that be an issue?
A: The template is editable, so you can remove the extra response if needed.
Q: Can you add a video overlay? I like to have a short video between my lectures as an example (a short humorous clip).
A: Yes, you can add a video overlay. You can add multiple video clips to the same Bulb and crop them if needed. You can also embed the video to a pause interaction and overlay it on top of the video.
Q: If you decide, at the end of creating responses, to add only 4 responses instead of 5, using the template, would that be an issue?
A: The template is completely editable, so you can remove the extra response if needed.
Q: Who do attendees contact for Flex credit for the PlayPosit webinar?
A: Contact your district/college Professional Development office for Flex credit inquiries.
Q: I have problems when grading PlayPosit assignments, using the monitor function. The problem is that sometimes it won’t go to page 2 if I’m grading page 1. Sometimes I can’t scroll over to their name if I’m grading one of the interactions.
A: Thank you for sharing this with us. Could you please share this issue with our support team at help@playposit.org so they can look into it?
Q: Can you please show what students see in Canvas when a PlayPosit assignment is published?
A: You will see the student view approximately 00:52:50 into the video.
Q: I design Canvas modules that are used by all of the faculty in our English Division. If I use PlayPosit to make videos interactive, will each faculty member also have to activate PlayPosit in Canvas for the interactive elements to work? (I'm thinking of making them ungraded assignments).
A: When the pages are copied over to other instructors' courses, they will become the co-editors of the Bulb and will be able to use the Bulbs in their course and monitor them.
