Canvas - TechConnect Cloud/3C Media - Firefox, Chrome and Safari - Unable to Insert Video Error

Firefox, Chrome, and Safari settings may prevent the 3C Media tool from inserting video into your Canvas class.  Browsers are increasing security settings which may prevent the 3C Media integration in Canvas from validating user data resulting in an error that you have no access to the video. 

Please note, TechConnect does not support browser issues, but we are providing these guidelines to help resolve the issues. Remember browser and operating system versions vary, and settings options may be in locations other than described below. 

Firefox

1. Copy and paste about:preferences#privacy into your Firefox browser.
2. Select Custom.
3. Uncheck the box next to Cookies.
4. Scroll down to Cookies and Site Data.
5. Click on Clear Data.
6. Keep check mark next to Cookies and Site Data and Cached Web Content and click on Clear.
7. Click Clear Now in the next confirmation popup window.
8. Exit Firefox browser and open Firefox again.
9. Log into Canvas/3CMedia to insert a video to confirm the video can now be uploaded.

Chrome 

To manage third-party cookie settings in Chrome:

1. Click the ellipses in the top right of the Chrome window.
2. Scroll down to Settings, then Privacy and Security.
3. Select Third-party cookies. 
   • Click to unblock all third-party cookies. 
   • Or, keep third-party cookies blocked, but add exceptions.
     • Scroll to Allowed to use third-party cookies. 
     • Click the Add button and enter the url https://ccctechconnect.instructure.com  and https://3cmediasolutions.org    

Safari (Prior to version 17)

1. Clear cookies in Safari, close the browser then launch Safari again.
2. On the top left Safari menu, choose Preferences then Privacy.
3. Uncheck Website tracking and Block all cookies. 
4. Check Allow privacy-preserving measurement of add effectiveness.

Safari (version 17 and newer)

1. Clear cookies in Safari, close the browser then launch Safari again.
2. On the top left Safari menu, choose Preferences then Privacy.
3. Uncheck Prevent cross-site tracking. 
4. On the top ribbon, choose Advanced.
5. Uncheck Block all cookies. 
6. Check Allow privacy-preserving measurement of add effectiveness.
