When you submit a TechConnect Cloud caption request for your uploaded video, captions are added to your video in approximately 1-5 business days.
You will not be notified via email when your DECT caption request has been completed.
You will need to look in Details & Options for the video. The DECT Captioning Grant data field displays a message, "You have already requested DECT funded captioning for this media item, and it is currently being processed. This page will be updated once captioning is complete."
Once the captions are complete, the message changes to "A captioning request has been completed for this media. The caption file has been attached to the item. Captions can be turned on or off using the "cc" button located on the lower right of the video player."
You can also look at the Messages tab. If there is a number enclosed with parentheses to the direct right of Messages, you have unread messages. For example, Messages (7) means you have seven unread messages. The Messages tab is where you will get the notification that your caption request is complete. Click on the Messages tab to view unread messages.
Locate caption file for your media:
- Select the My Media tab.
- Select the Details and Options link to the right of your video.
- Select Edit Media located under Tools.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the caption file.
- Completed caption request will be in a .vtt file in the Caption File field.
To play your captioned media:
Click the Play button located at the center of the video window of the video player.
Look for the CC button toward the lower right corner of the player. If the CC button has black letters with a blue background, captions are currently enabled and playing on the video player.
