Below are some helpful Q&A responses provided by a Zoom support team member regarding these features.
Q. When recording how does the interpreter stay fully present onscreen?
A. When recording to the cloud, you only have few recording layouts which you can see on the recording settings, and here are as follows: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/360025561091-Recording-layouts
- Cloud recording layouts (desktop client)
- Cloud recording layouts (mobile app)
If you are using pinned videos during the recording, please be informed that cloud recording does not support pin videos at the moment. Whatever is configured on your Recordings Settings will be the recording layouts that you will have.
I would suggest you record the meeting locally if you will be pinning videos. Local recording supports the pin video feature.
Q. Does spotlighted person stay present? Can both? What if three people are pinned?
A. The pinned video will be recorded unless the participant who is recording changes their video layout. The pin video feature will only take effect on the user's end view, not the view of other participants or cloud recordings.
Q. How do we see what the recording will look like to make settings?
A. As mentioned above, you will have to configure cloud recording layout on your Recording Settings.
Q. Is there a way to adjust the size of the two interpreters pinned (and still see powerpoint, spotlighted person, etc.)?
A. There is no way to adjust the size of two interpreters but if you want to still see powerpoint and the pinned videos, you can use the side-by-side mode. Here is the guide: Side-by-side mode for screen sharing.
Q. Is it best to unplug/turn off the second monitor when recording?
A. I would recommend you doing this to avoid any issues.
Q. While recording, if I team, (two interpreters pinned), when I am interpreting and screen share is happening, I am seen. If I am camera off ( while other interpreter is interpreting, ) it records my blank camera off screen.) If no screen share, but has spotlight, for some interpreter’s the speaker is recorded (no interpreter) and sometimes the interpreter is recorded (no speaker).
A. You can refer to the recording layout article I have provided above. It will take effect on your cloud recordings. If you will be recording locally, whatever is shown on the user's screen will be recorded.
If you are looking into recording a breakout room, you can only record the rooms locally and you will have to assign one user per breakout room to do the recording. If you are going to record to the cloud, it will only record the main room.
During spotlight, it will be shown on other participants' screen too. Pinning videos will only take effect on user's end, while spotlight video is for everyone. You can have up to 9 videos spotlighted. https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362653-Spotlighting-participants-videos
I would highly recommend you record locally instead of doing a cloud recording since you will be using multiple features. Here is the guide for the local recording: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/201362473-Local-recording
